A half-cent sales tax passed by voters in November 2005 funded the purchase of the building, which cost $3.5 million. The bond was paid off in 2014, two years ahead of schedule. This keeps operating costs lower for both DeKalb County and Daviess County taxpayers.

DeKalb County Jail Visitation Rules
In-person visits are available but you must call 24 hours ahead to schedule. Visit times run Monday through Friday from 9am to 11am and 1pm to 3pm. The jail has a non-contact visiting room. This means you speak through a partition or phone rather than sitting face to face.
